Harold “Russell” Mounce, age 61, of the Providence Community, passed from this life on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Russell was born on January 3, 1955, in Somerset, son of the late Irvin and Pauline Meece Mounce. He married Cathy Wells on June 25, 1971, in Somerset. Russell had worked as a miner, a logger and a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Russell loved spending time with his granddaughter. He was a member of Mount Victory Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his son, Rusty (and Heather) Mounce, of Mount Victory; his brothers, Roy Lynn Mounce, of Providence, and James Irvin (and Gatha) Mounce, of Somerset; his sisters, Betty Smith, of Rushville, Indiana, Wilma (and Lemon) Burdine, of the Goodwater Community, Regina (and Roger) Chaney, of Providence, and Elaine (and Sid) Baker, of Somerset; and his beloved granddaughter, Cora Grace Mounce.
Preceding Russell in death are his parents; and his brothers, Gary Mounce, John Dennis Mounce, and Donnie Earl Mounce.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016, after 5:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 12:00 noon, at Mount Victory Baptist Church, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m., until funeral service time. Bro. Charles Meece and Bro. Brian Plants will be officiating services. Burial will be in the Mount Victory Cemetery.

May you find comfort in this verse during this your time of sorrow knowing others care and pray you have strength in the days ahead. At Isaiah 25: 8 and it reads, “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.” This gave our family comfort and hope.
