Rosie Eva Thompson, age 78, of Somerset, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born on September 6, 1939 in Pulaski County, daughter of the late Willie Hollars and Maggie Lowery Hollars.

Rosie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed the role of being a mother to others as well. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, collecting lighthouses, yard sales and nurturing her pet cats. She was a kind and generous lady who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; William “Red” Harmon Thompson whom she married in 1957 in Pulaski County and two sisters; Edna Marie Meece and Nancy West.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her son; William Steve (Ellen Dianna) Thompson of Somerset, two daughters; Cathy Engle (Bobby Kean) of Nancy, and Goldie Thompson of Somerset, a brother; Johnny A. Hollars of Indianapolis, Indiana, a sister; Louise Akers of Somerset, seven grandchildren; Jeremy (Lisa) Puckett, Brandie Thompson (Steven Coffman), Lindsey (Adam) Mounce, Ashley (Adam) Sexton, Britney (Brandon) Ragland, Hillary (G. J. ) Farmer and Steven Thompson, great-grandchildren; Ashley (Neal) Sharp, Lucas Puckett, Kelly Dugger, Breanna Dugger, Zachary Coffman, Alexander Ragland, Jack Farmer, McKenzie Farmer and Jocie Farmer, a great-great granddaughter; Emmarie Sharp as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith McKin officiating. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery in the Omega Park Community.
