Sharon Marie Collins, age 71, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset.
She was born on March 16, 1946 in Somerset, daughter of the late Edna Marie Whitehead and Thomas A. Whitehead. She retired from the Somerset Dairy Queen after 26 years of dedicated service. Sharon was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was a lifetime member of the Harvest Time Assembly of God Church in Somerset. Sharon dearly enjoyed spending time with her family, she loved to travel including multiple trips to away UK wildcat games. Sharon was a very avid U.K Basketball fan. She was a huge animal lover and a proud sponsor of the Humane Society. She also thoroughly enjoyed reading.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by a grandson; Derek A. Collins.
Sharon leaves to cherish her precious memories two sons; Jeff and (Jenny) Collins of New Carlisle, Ohio and Randy Collins of Somerset, Kentucky, Three grandchildren; Brandy Collins, of Lexington, Kentucky, Caleb Collins and Alaina Collins of New Carlisle, Ohio, one brother; Don and (Stephanie) of Somerset, Kentucky, Nephew ; Justin and (Christen), Niece; Kristen Whitehead and a very special Cousin, who was more like a Sister; Donna Adams and many other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins along with her dearly loved and cherished rescue cat “Tabby.
Visitation for Sharon will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the Science Hill Cemetery.
