Thurman McClellan Troxtel, age 77, of Somerset, husband of Sherry Keathley Troxtel, passed from this life on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.

He was born on August 19, 1940 in the Cabin Hollow Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky son of the late Andrew William and Sarah Nevels Troxtel.  He was a retired employee of Tecumseh Products as a Lineman. On April 23, 1981 he was married to Sherry Keathley Troxtel in Jellico, Tennessee.  Thurman was of the Baptist faith and member of the Pitman Creek Baptist Church.  He enjoyed farming, working with cattle and made it a daily chore to sit on his porch and count the cattle.  He was a hardworking yet loving husband and father and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his Brothers; Donald Troxtel, Hershel Troxtel, and Sisters; Lucile Adams and Darlene Bowman.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his wife Sherry; his son Chad (Amye) Hill of Somerset; his daughters; Roxie (Gary) Morrow of the Elihu Community, Rhonda (James) Anderson of Navarre, Florida, Valerie Burton (Lewis Daulton) of Burnside, Stephanie (David) Smith of the Keno Community, and Jenna (John) Williams of Cadiz, Kentucky, his Brothers; James “Jim” Troxtel of Burnside, Bob Troxtel, Gene Troxtel both of Somerset, Jack (Janie) Troxtel, of the Elihu Community, Ray Troxtel of Dry Branch Community and his Sister; Faye (Gary) Warren of Science Hill along with sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Shawn Troxtel, Stacey Troxtel, Scott Troxtel, James Gleason, Josh Gleason, and Brandon Morrow, and Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Latham and John Williams.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home, with Brother Larry Butte and Brother Raymond Ridner Officiating.  Interment will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.

Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Thurman Troxtel.
