Mrs. Wilma Inez Risden, age 98, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born January 06, 1919 in the Parkers Lake Community of McCreary County, Kentucky daughter to the late Elmer and Elizabeth Neal Childers. She was of the Methodist Faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Somerset. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, reading, traveling, and fishing. Wilma enjoyed playing the organ and piano, working in her flower garden, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Lewis Shepherd, her second husband; Milford Risdon, son; Ronald Edward Shepherd, sister; Virginia Foster, and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Risden is survived by son; Larry W. (Margaret) Shepherd of Dardanelle, Arkansas, a daughter; Phyllis Ann (Terry) Mann of Somerset, brother Raymond E. Childers of Atlanta, Georgia, six grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 2 to 3 o’clock pm with a celebration of life service following at 3 o’clock pm in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 99 South Central Avenue, Somerset, Kentucky 42501.
