Samuel Jefferson Acton, husband of Velda Acton, age 74, of Eubank, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington after an extended illness.

He was born on October, 3, 1942 in Somerset, son of the late Casper Acton and Edna Girdler Vaughn.  Samuel was a Sargent in the United States Army having served his country during the Vietnam Era, He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Medal as well as the Sharpshooter Badge Medal.  Upon his returned from the Army he dedicated his career to 45 years of employment at the Paul’s Discount Store in Somerset as a Buyer and Sales Associate in the Automotive Department. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset and enjoyed woodworking and mechanic work in his spare time. He was a kind and generous person who will be missed by those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife; Velda Acton of Eubank, sons; Jerry Acton of Lexington and Ernest Acton of Eubank, a brother; James and (Jeannie) Acton of Somerset, and three grandchildren; Jessica Acton, Shelby Acton, and Sierra Acton as well as a Great-grandchild; Garrett Meece and a host of other relatives and friends.

In Accordance with his wishes Mr. Acton will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers or expressions of sympathy to the family, contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 1115 Highway 39, Somerset, Kentucky 42501
