Rodger Dale Keaton, age 66, was born on January 9, 1951 in Monticello, KY and departed this life on January 27, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was the oldest child of Lillie Doss Keaton and Randoph Keaton (Morgan Co. KY).
Survivors include his only child, Rodney Dale Keaton and grandchildren, Abbygail, Kaden, Dale and Madelynn Keaton (and their mother Monica Simpson) all of Somerset. One sister, Darlene Massengale, two brothers, Earl and Steve Lowe, as well as two former wives, Sandi Keaton-Wilson and Lisa Keaton. Nephews, Mike and Gary Massengale, Brian Lowe and Landon Keaton and nieces, Angie, Kristy and Lora. Plus a host of church family and friends.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Ollie Lowe; grandparents, Jess and Esther Doss and Tom and Polly Keaton, brothers, David and Don Keaton.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he attended services with his guide dog Sparky Chip. As an avid ham radio and CB operator, Rodger enjoyed hours of conversations with friends near and far. He loved music, car movies, spending time outdoors, walking his dog, riding around with his son, and having fun with his grandchildren.
Rodger’s courage was an inspiration to many as he educated students and adults about vision impairment and guide dogs. He will truly be missed.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monticello.
