J.D. Bridges, age 85, of Bronston, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his residence

He was born on December 25, 1931 in Elk Valley, Tn., son of the late Kelly and Gertrude Posey Bridges

J.D. was a member of the Bronston Baptist Church. He was a golfer, world traveler having been in all fifty states, a home builder and a wood worker. He was past master of Goshen Lodge #119. He retired from General Electric and was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bridges; one son, Mark (and Terri) Bridges, of Drakesboro, KY; one daughter, Linda (and Bruce) Baker of Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Leslie (and Christine) Bridges; two sisters-in-law, Janet Bridges and Jean Bridges; four grandchildren, Shawna Brucker, Justin Bridges, Mary Depew and Samuel Bridges; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Woodyard, Harlowe Bridges and Layton Depew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Bridges; two brothers, Amos Bridges and Darrell Bridges and one great-grandson, Nathan Steadman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Masonic Services will be at 10:30 a.m. by Burnside Masonic Lodge #634.

Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with Military Honors to be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
