Alma Marie Hammond Smith, age 84, of Monticello, passed from this life on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Golden Years Nursing Home, Monticello, Kentucky.

Alma was born on May 29, 1932 in Delta, Kentucky to the late Marvin and Alpha Branscum Hammond. She enjoyed reading, bingo, crafts and crossword puzzles.

Alma was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by a son, Marvin Edward Isabele, of Louisville; a daughter, Gloria (and Ron) Mardis, of Bronston; brothers, Marvin Lee Hammond, of Somerset, James Grant Hammond, of Monticello; sisters, Eleanor (and Bobby) Gregory, of Monticello, Susie Kaye Stringer, of Somerset, Lucy Faye Silvers, of Monticello, Sue Carol Smith, of Monticello, Shirley Louise Simpson, of Monticello, Nancy Dianne (and Jim) Brown, of Monticello; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William Edward Isabele; second husband, Lawrence Smith; and a brother, Charles Paul Hammond.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church, Frazer, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Keith McKim officiating with burial in the New Salem Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to Gideon’s Memorial Bible Fund, Hospice of Lake Cumberland, or New Salem Baptist Church Building fund.
