Edward “Ed” Helton, age 84, of Burnside, passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Ed was born on July 23, 1932, in the Omega Community of Pulaski County, son of the late Carl and Myrtle Irene Hair Helton.  He married Montie Keith on September 11, 1951, in Rossville, Georgia. He was a retired logger for Helton Logging Company.  Ed enjoyed running a saw mill and farming.  He enjoyed watching westerns.  Ed was a member of Dixie Bend Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Montie; his sons, Roger W. (and Cindy Ann) Helton, and Bobby Joe (and Connie) Helton, both of Sloans Valley; his daughters, Oneda Faye (and Allen) Shelton, and Sharlene (and Toby) Ridner, both of Sloans Valley; his sisters, Clara Valentour and Mary Lou New, both of Blue John; his thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Stanley Edward Helton.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 15, 2016, after 5:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Mike Hammond officiating.  Burial will be in the Sloans Valley Cemetery.
