Garland “Gary” Ridner age 68 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Thursday July 31, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on May 16, 1946 to the late Robert “Bob” Sr. and Iva Dean Keeney Ridner. Gary was of the Baptist faith.
He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and retired after forty-six years as a salesperson for H.T. Hackney. Gary enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and dirt track car racing. He was loved by all of his customers.
He s preceded in death by his parents. His brother, Danny Ridner and a sister-in-law, Sally Bryant Ridner.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian Bowling Ridner, whom he married on July 5, 1994 in Ferguson, Ky. Two sons, Michael (Misty) Ridner of the Colo Community and Joey (Traci) McClendon of Somerset. One daughter, Christi (Scott) Hurt of Lexington, Ky. One brother, Robert Jr. (Lois) Ridner of the Piney Grove Community. His grandchildren, McKenzie Ridner, Justin Vaught, Jared Vaught, Marissa Vaught, Amelia Hurt, Lauren Hurt, Daniel Hurt, Jailynne McClendon, Aslynne McClendon and Skyler McClendon. Also surviced by a sister-in-law, Betty Jones Ridner of the Ruth Community and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 3, 2014 after 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 4, 2014 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Elwood Bradley and Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clay Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requets that donatins be made to the Clay Hill Cemetery Fund C/O Jerry Brinson.
