Osrow Ed Barnes, age 76 of LaSalle Road, Lexington, KY passed away on Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013 at his home, after an extended illness.

He was born in Wayne County, KY on August 1, 1936; He was the second of sixteen children blessed to the family of the late Jay C. And Laura E. Hunter Barnes in Wayne County, Ky. He attended school in Wayne County, KY school system during his earlier years, before the family moved to Somerset. He was a member of the 1956 graduating class of the Dunbar High school and an active member of the Basketball Team.

He was married in 1967 to Patricia Owsley Barnes, in Lexington, KY. Osrow was an independent individual, opinionated and mischievous, especially during his teenage and young adult years. He would argue a point to the bitter end if he thought he was right. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved racing cars and watching horse racing. His proficient skills golfing won him the honor of holding the record of the lowest score at the old Burnside Island Country Club. He has an innumerable amount of trophies and awards for his skills in golfing, bowling and car racing. His pride and joy was his 1960 Chevy and 1940 Chevy Coupe that he had restored and won several races at the old Somerset Drag Strip as well as the Nicholasville Drag Strip.

Osrow began his work career in Somerset at the Old Chicken Plant, after moving to Lexington he worked for several years at the Old Ice Plant as a truck driver. He was a retiree of the IBM Company (Lexmark) after over 30 years of dedicated service as an assembly worker.

He was preceded by his parents, One brother; Herman Barnes, Brother In Law; Chester Alexander, a Niece Sara Rose Barnes, Nephew; Ronald Lee Barnes and a sister in-law Rosemarie Barnes .

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Owsley Barnes of Lexington and two daughters, Charlesetta (Roy Johnson) Barnes and Yolanda Barnes of Lexington KY, One son; Edward T. Barnes, who was adopted by the late Jay C. and Laura Barnes. Three grandchildren; Devonte Barnes, Ashlee Tarrence and Chole Fields all of Lexington, KY., Two Great Grandchildren ; Charlesetta Davis and Nina Davis of Lexington. Four Sisters; Shirley B. (Bishop Wm P.) Hardin, and Betty (Edward) Cook of Somerset, KY, Jeanetta Alexander of Burkesville, KY and Bertha (John R, Jr) Cowan of Monticello, KY. His brothers; Thomas L (Patricia) Barnes, Ernest (Sandra) Barnes, and Edward T.(Carrie) Barnes all of Lexington. John H. (Kathleen Norman) Barnes, Billy Jay Barnes, Elder Eric L (Bernice) Barnes, Ronnie Barnes, Rev. Freddie L (Bobbie Jo) Stephens, Anthony (Melissa) Stephens all of Somerset, KY and Michael Stephens of Nicholasville, KY. His Mother in-law ; Vivian Owsley and Sister in-law Gwendolyn Barnes, Both of Lexington KY and a Host of Niece’s Nephews, Cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Osrow Ed Barnes will be at New Birth Church Of Christ 1690 Russell Cave Rd, Lexington KY on Monday April 22, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Graveside Services will be held at the Highland Memorial Cemetery on Lisle Street off Leestown Road in Lexington following the visitation.
