Ruth Alexander Smiley, age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the U.K. Chandler Hospital in Lexington. She was born on January 5, 1927 in Ruth, Kentucky to the late William Elbert Alexander and Carlie Hines Alexander.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Patricia Catron of Somerset; Sisters, Verla Mize of Somerset and Betty Phelps of Somerset. Granddaughter, Heather (Nick) Tudor; Great Grand Children, Kaylie Jo Tudor and Shelbie Morgan Tudor; Daughter in Law, Abynelle Morgan Smiley of Nancy; Special friend Irene Hurst of Somerset; along with several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smiley was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Charles Smiley whom she married on November 30, 1944 in Somerset. She is also preceded by her son, Charles Michael Smiley; Three Sisters, Edna (Sam) Cox, Essie (Edward) Ping, Lucille (Coy) Bolton; Brother in laws, Johnny Mize and Howard Phelps.

Mrs. Smiley loved flowers and spending time with her family. Mrs. Smiley was a member of East Somerset Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. at the East Somerset Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 19.Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 20 after 9 A.M. Funeral services for Mrs. Smiley will follow at 11 A.M. with Dr. Darvie Fenison officiating. Interment will be in the Clay Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Stringer, Bill Ping, Russ Ping, David Hargis, Rick Bolton, Mike Conatser, Brandon Waddle, and Keith Pierce.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hershel VanHook Memorial Library or East Somerset Baptist Church Building Fund.
